The idea that Xbox Game Pass is the “best value in gaming” has been shaken in recent months, but the Xbox platform does offer some good promotions from time to time.
As shared on X by Xbox, we’re getting a few freebies this coming weekend that you can play for a limited time. One of them in particular is a pretty huge title that millions of people have already experienced.

From January 15 through January 18, you’ll have the chance to play EA Sports FC 26 and select other games on Xbox platforms. The announcement was made with FC 26 as the marquee focus of the event, with former soccer player Toni Kroos appearing in the commercial for the next round of Free Play Days.
If you aren’t aware of the Xbox Free Play Days promotion, it allows Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential subscribers to play newer games for free. To access them on your console, you’ll go to the store, home, subscriptions, then Free Play Days.
As is the case with demos and some other promotions, if you decide to buy the game later, you can pick up where you left off after the promotional period. Xbox also notes that select titles will have discounts at this time. Note that this promo isn’t available on PC, Switch, or PlayStation platforms. It’ll only be accessible on Xbox, and more announcements for games other than EA Sports FC 26 are expected before the weekend.
It’s also important to differentiate Xbox Free Play Days and “Xbox Free Play Days For All.” The latter allows unlocked games, including multiplayer, for all players, while the former is restricted to folks with Ultimate, Premium, or Essential subscription tiers.

As Microsoft explains, you only have 72 hours to take advantage of this offer. After that, everything will revert to normal, and you’ll need to buy the impacted games to play them. Microsoft offers some clarity on that front: “These trials can only be played for a set amount of time during the play period, but you can download and try the game at any time while it’s available through Free Play Days.”
