With Final Fantasy 7 Remake set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S very soon, Square Enix has announced a special freebie for existing players on PlayStation 5 and PC. Because who needs to play new games when we can just go back to Midgar over and over again?
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is finally coming to Nintendo and Xbox platforms on January 22, and you can actually try it for free right now. The performance on Switch 2 especially has to be seen to be believed, and could end up being the best port for the new(ish) system so far, even beating out Cyberpunk 2077. But if you’ve already played through the game on PlayStation or PC, Square has a little bonus for you.

To celebrate Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade launch day on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox, Square is releasing a patch for the PS5 and PC versions on Thursday. This introduces Streamlined Progression, including the ability to keep HP and MP topped up, and always hit for 9,999 damage. Basically, this is a bit of a God Mode, which is great if you ever struggled with the game, or if you just want to do a quicker playthrough to get up to speed before the third part of the Remake trilogy launches in the next few years.
The patch should go live at the same time as the Switch 2 and Xbox versions of the game. I’d also assume these new ports will also include the new, Streamlined Progression option.

While we’re finally seeing the first part of the Remake trilogy finally come to other consoles, work on the third and final instalment is coming along. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently confirmed that he and Tetsuya Nomura have nearly arrived at a title for the third game.
Nomura also added back in September 2025 that Square Enix already has a release window in mind for Part 3, and it’ll likely be sooner than we expected.
