Don’t Overlook This Free Xbox Game Pass RPG On March 25

March 25 is going to be a great day for Xbox Game Pass members, thanks to the arrival of a new free RPG that you won’t want to miss out on. It’s quite easy to overlook some new additions to the catalog, as every month this year has come with some huge titles that have stolen the spotlight. For example, in January on Xbox Game Pass, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut joined the service, though Anno: Mutationem was heavily overlooked.
In February, Xbox Game Pass received The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, both of which are huge productions that took over the service, taking a bit of the spotlight away from titles like Aerial_Knight’s DropShot and TCG Card Shop Simulator on Xbox Game Pass. The latter was immensely praised by players, who were caught by surprise by its “addictive” gameplay loop, but it didn’t get the same attention as the huge AAA games.
Xbox Game Pass Adds Absolum For Free
The Indie RPG Is Available On Ultimate, Premium, & PC Game Pass
There’s a risk that something similar will happen with the release of the second wave of free games for Xbox Game Pass in March. Among huge AAA hits, such as Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Microsoft announced that Absolum is joining Xbox Game Pass on March 25, for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and cloud gaming.
The title will be made available for members of the Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass tiers. This RPG’s arrival in March likely means it will remain available in the catalog for around one year, so you may have plenty of time to check it out. While Absolum is an indie game like Disco Elysium on Xbox Game Pass, it is a lot less well-known, but still deserving of your attention.
Absolum Is A Roguelite RPG That Deserves Your Attention
The Roguelite Is A 2025 Hidden Gem
Released in October 2025, Absolum is an RPG that blends beat ‘em up gameplay with roguelite mechanics, making for something of a unique experience. Developed by Dotemu (creator of Streets of Rage 4 and publisher of titles like Ninja Gaiden Ragebound and Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which is on Game Pass), Absolum puts you in control of different heroes, each with their own set of moves and abilities.
As you play through it, you’ll unlock more skills for the characters you control, and there’s a roguelite element to it, with randomized skills you can acquire for each run too. In a way, it may feel like a game like Hades, for example, especially when you take into consideration its hand-drawn art style. However, Absolum has a remarkable identity of its own.
This is reflected by Screen Rant’s review of Absolum, which gives it an 8/10 score, calling it a “roguelite beat ‘em up masterpiece.” In the review, we praise the outstanding gameplay mechanics that set it apart from other beat ‘em up titles, as well as other roguelite games.
