Two massive open-world RPGs are now available for free on Xbox Game Pass, and if you want to fully throw yourself into fiction-based universes, these are the go-to titles you’ll need to download using your subscription service. It’s been a great month for the catalog so far. Earlier in February, Microsoft added High on Life 2 as a day-one release, as well as a free upgrade for Avowed on Xbox Game Pass.
Now, the subscription service is significantly better than it was before, with the arrival of two huge RPGs. After the announcement of the second wave of game additions in February on Xbox Wire, the catalog received The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which joins Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora as the two most notable open-world RPGs this month. These games significantly enhance the value you pay for your subscription, so you should check them out for free.
Witcher 3 & Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora On Game Pass
Both RPGs Joined The Catalog In February
Both titles are now part of the catalog, and members can play them for free. However, this does depend on your tier. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora joined Xbox Game Pass on February 17, though the game can only be accessed by members of the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers. Added on February 19, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition is available for the Game Pass Ultimate and Premium tiers.
As such, Avatar requires the highest level of subscription, while The Witcher 3 is only available for consoles and cloud gaming. These two Xbox Game Pass additions in February will likely stay around for at least a year before being removed. However, considering the sheer size of each of them, and combined, you’ll likely spend a ton of time playing through them, which is why I recommend starting them as soon as possible.
Both Games Will Take A Lot Of Time To Beat
Avatar & The Witcher 3 Are Massive RPGs
Both these titles are immense, especially if you take into consideration the amount of side content you can partake in. According to HowLongToBeat, it will take you around 44 to 45 hours to beat Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. However, this number can increase to around 84 hours if you follow the completionist path, concluding every side quest and obtaining every achievement.
Meanwhile, HowLongToBeat reports that you’ll invest around 130 hours to beat The Witcher 3 in its Complete Edition – which also contains the Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone DLCs. If you’re a completionist, you can expect to spend around 188 hours within the open-world RPG. There are rumors of a new 2026 DLC for The Witcher 3, so this could be a great time to play it for the first time or replay it.
