The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 was recently announced, and this year’s announcement has reignited fans’ passion and anticipation for anything related to The Elder Scrolls 6, Bethesda’s upcoming yet elusive entry in the beloved Elder Scrolls franchise. Against all odds, and understanding that there is little hope in the matter to begin with, fans are choosing to believe that Elder Scrolls 6 news is nigh.
All over Reddit, The Elder Scrolls fans are rallying with a lot of hype regarding a possible reveal or showcase for the sixth mainline installment at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, which will be presented on June 7 (and followed immediately by a Gears of War: E-Day Direct). An appearance may not be entirely impossible, which has propelled fans’ excitement for the showcase further.
Is The Elder Scrolls 6 Reveal Finally Upon Us?
Amusingly, Reddit user bwk66 is accepting the cost of their blind faith in The Elder Scrolls 6 making an appearance at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 by saying they are “ready to be hurt,” while user Avgvstvs_Montes thinks that “more likely we’ll see it at game awards in December this year, with a slated release date of fourth quarter 2027 (it will then be delayed to third quarter 2028).”
Few fans truly do suspect it to be at the Xbox Games Showcase this summer, with The Game Awards 2026 being a likelier option, particularly since it would mean that Bethesda can wait a little longer before revealing anything more from its most highly anticipated game.
Looking at what Xbox has on its immediate, known horizon, user ASongOfRiceAndTyres argues that “between Fable and Gears there’s no chance for TESVI.” This, coupled with the fact that Todd Howard regrets The Elder Scrolls 6’s announcement in general, almost guarantees that we are nowhere near hearing about The Elder Scrolls 6 again.
However, as pointed out by Reddit user Kuchichi_Byakuya, a tiny glimmer of actual hope can be gleaned from the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 description, which cites “first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from our first-party studios across the Xbox family.” A reveal, announcement, or update on The Elder Scrolls 6 would certainly be classified as “huge news,” so fans may be right to open their hearts to the possibility of devastation in the months preceding this showcase.
The Elder Scrolls Fans Have Done Their Waiting
Either way, despite myriad re-releases, ports, mods, and so forth, The Elder Scrolls fans have realistically been waiting almost 15 years for the sequel to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
