The Black Friday Gaming Deals You Want – From PlayStation, XBOX and Alienware – Are Already Here

Sony started Black Friday week with bold discounts on its entire PlayStation lineup and they cut prices on consoles and accessories to clear out inventory before the holidays. Nintendo is now responding with its own deals to maintain its position as the leading console maker heading into 2025 although the company doesn’t lower prices as noticeably as its competitors.
The Switch OLED model has dropped to $359 on Amazon, down from its standard price of $399 (which increased after tariff adjustments in the US market). This is a record low since that price increase took effect which makes it a great time to buy Nintendo’s premium handheld without paying full price. The 10% discount may seem small compared to the deeper cuts from Sony (15-20%) but Nintendo hardware typically retains its value and sells well.

OLED Display Makes Every Game Pop
The 7-inch OLED screen changes how Switch games look in handheld mode: It delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks that make the standard Switch’s LCD panel seem washed out. OLED technology lights up each pixel individually instead of using a backlight and creates contrast ratios that reveal details in dark scenes and make bright colors really stand out.
Games like The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom display lush environments with greener grass and skies that smoothly shift from dawn to dusk. Atmospheric titles like Metroid Dread benefit from shadows that look genuinely dark instead of murky gray. The larger screen size compared to the original Switch gives you more visual space without significantly increasing the console’s overall dimensions, as Nintendo reduced the bezels for a bigger display.
The improved audio system produces clearer sound through redesigned speakers that handle bass and treble better than the original Switch’s thin output. You can actually feel the low-end rumble during action scenes and hear subtle environmental sounds that got lost on the base model. This enhanced audio quality makes handheld gaming more immersive without needing headphones, although the console supports Bluetooth audio if you prefer wireless earbuds or headphones.
Nintendo increased the internal storage to 64GB which gives you enough space for digital game downloads without immediately needing a microSD card. Modern Switch games range from a few hundred megabytes for indie titles to over 15GB for major releases so that extra storage allows you to keep a decent library installed without running out of space.
These detachable controllers support local multiplayer by sliding off the console and serving as individual gamepads for two-player games, while the console’s kickstand holds it up for tabletop gaming. Online multiplayer generally needs a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for most games and gives you access to cloud saves and a library of classic NES and SNES games along with modern online play.
At $359, you save $40 on Nintendo’s premium Switch model at a time when the company seldom discounts its hardware. The OLED screen and improved audio justify the usual $50 increase over the standard Switch, and this Black Friday price makes that difference just $10 compared to the base model elsewhere.
