Red Dead Redemption will soon be available on more platforms than ever.
Rockstar Games announced Thursday that its classic open-world action-adventure Western is coming to all of the current generation consoles as well as iOS and Android, but that’s not all.
Along with owners of PlayStation 5, XBOX X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, Netflix subscribers also will be able to download the game.
The expansion pack Undead Nightmare is coming to all those platforms, too.
This news comes on the heels of an announcement that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available in the PlayStation Plus games library later this month.
What to know
Fans wanting to get back into the RDR world will be able to do so on Dec. 2.
That’s when the game will be available natively for the first time on all the current generation consoles.
Originally released for the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360 in 2010, Red Dead Redemption has sold more than 25 million copies.
It offers Grand Theft Auto-style gameplay in an Old West theme and became a cult hit in no time.
It was a sequel to Red Dead Revolver for PS2 and XBOX.
Undead Nightmare came out in the fall of 2010 for PS3 and XBOX 360.
Rockstar says all these new versions feature the complete single-player experiences of both games and will include bonus content from the “Game of the Year Edition.”
According to a press release, gamers who own RDR on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward compatible version on Xbox One will be able to upgrade digitally for free.
Switch 2 players can continue previous saved games from the original Switch, and anyone who owns the PS4 version can utilize previous PS4 save data.
The new console versions will also be available on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and the GTA+ Games Library on Dec. 2.
What’s new?
Rockstar says PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will be able to enjoy the 60 frames per second experience, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K.
The new versions of the games will also take full advantage of the hardware upgrades on the Switch 2 with support for DLSS, HDR, mouse controls, and fluid 60 frames per second gameplay at high resolution.
