GTA 6 Fans Debating New PS6, Xbox Helix Leaks

Neither new console has been revealed yet, but that hasn’t stopped Grand Theft Auto 6 fans from looking forward to the hardware and a potential upgraded version of the game. Xbox has officially announced Project Helix, though details remain scarce, while the PlayStation 6 is still nothing but rumors at this point. Supposed technical specs are nevertheless making the rounds online, and with GTA 6 being the most anticipated game on the horizon, it’s inevitable to see the two discussions overlap.
The most recent leaks regarding Sony’s and Microsoft’s next-gen consoles come from notable gaming tech YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead, who has been a consistent source of information on the 10th generation machines – most of which, I’m obliged to point out, remains unconfirmed. A breakdown of the supposed consoles’ specs was posted by the (unofficial) GTA 6 Countdown Twitter account, with replies ranging from optimistically excited to steeped in doubt.
Fans Are Wondering About GTA 6 On Next Gen
Plenty of replies aren’t buying into the rumors. Particular umbrage is being taken with the assertion that 120 frames per second will be the new standard benchmark, and that the two consoles will be roughly equivalent in power to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080, currently a top-of-the-line graphics card. The PlayStation 6’s supposed target price between $550 and $650 is also unbelievable for many, given the increasing price of components amid the shortage caused by tech companies’ “AI” development. Of particular interest is a poll in the comments asking others whether they’ll buy a PS6 or Xbox Helix for GTA 6.
PlayStation’s upcoming console has 55.8% of the nearly 4,000 votes – a much slimmer margin than the current console generation, which has unquestionably been dominated by the PS5, would suggest. Twitter polls aren’t exactly great data sets, but the numbers are interesting regardless. Backward compatibility, and Xbox’s presumed superior implementation, is a major talking point as well, and many seem to be under the impression that GTA 6 getting an upgraded version on the new hardware is inevitable.
Which Console Will Win This Time?
It’s impossible to predict which console will sell better without seeing either, but Xbox is going to have a tough time regaining ground after the poor sales of the Series X and Series S. Microsoft’s change in strategy is going to change the parameters of the competition, though. Project Helix will play PC games, and seems to be more of a hybrid console – or a Windows PC with a dedicated Xbox overlay – so it would appear it’s largely bowing out of the traditional home console market. It will reportedly be a high-end machine, further supporting the idea that it’s not necessarily a direct competitor to the PlayStation 6, which is presumed to be more affordable.
