After a user on Reddit shared a video that leaked the release date for Marathon on the Xbox Store, Bungie has gone ahead and confirmed that its extraction shooter will indeed arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with full cross-play and cross-save support this coming March 5, 2026.
The news was confirmed on Marathon’s social media and YouTube accounts, which shared the same trailer that had previously leaked. After consistent gameplay video leaks from the multiple closed-beta tests Bungie hosted for Marathon, even ones where it made players sign NDA’s, it’s practically fitting that the release date would be leaked too. This leak also arrives after we just saw an official deep-dive from Bungie on the game’s seven different Runner Shells, which are essentially the classes you’ll play as.
The only difference between the video that leaked and the official trailer is that the leaked video was seemingly cut off before it showcased a collector’s edition for the game, which includes a 1/6 scale statue of the Thief Runner Shell, a collectible miniature WEAVEworm, an embroidered patch, postcards, and the same digital rewards included in the deluxe edition.
A blog post that was published on Bungie’s official website also includes the English-speaking voice cast behind the Runner Shells and characters you’ll encounter in the fictional world of Tau Ceti IV. It’s a regular who’s-who of video game voice actors, with names you’ll instantly recognize for their work elsewhere, including Final Fantasy XVI’s Ben Starr, Baldur’s Gate 3’s Neil Newbon, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s Jennifer English, and Red Dead Redemption 2’s Roger Clark.
The post also seems to indicate that more voices will be added to the cast as the game grows, though at launch it will feature: “Krizia Bajos, Samantha Béart, Beau Bridgland, Ry Chase, Roger Clark, Darin De Paul, Jennifer English, Dave Fennoy, Nika Futterman, Morla Gorrondona, Reina Guthrie, Donnla Hughes, Keston John, Sohm Kapila, Rich Keeble, Elliot Knight, Erica Lindbeck, Piotr Michael, Brent Mukai, Neil Newbon, Ariana Nicole George, Emily O’Brien, Lee Shorten, Jason Spisak, Ben Starr, JB Tadena, Fred Tatasciore, Craig Lee Thomas, Elias Toufexis, Oliver Vaquer, Scott Whyte, Tracy Wiles, Erin Yvette.”
Players who pre-order any edition of Marathon will receive cosmetic rewards, including a sidearm weapon skin, a weapon charm and sticker, and an Apogee Intercept emblem and background. Pre-ordering also gets you a few cosmetics for Destiny 2, namely a Marathon-themed ghost shell, ship, and sparrow.
If you go for the Deluxe Edition, you’ll get all of the rewards listed above, along with one premium rewards pass voucher, 200 Silk Rewards pass tokens, two weapon skins, and a skin for the Vandal, Destroyer, Thief, and Assassin Runner Shells. The Collector’s Edition gets you everything already listed, along with the physical additions shown above.
The standard edition of Marathon is listed at $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99, while the deluxe edition is listed at $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99.
