Xbox Game Pass is keeping a streak of good catalog additions going, but it’ll need to recover after being put on the backfoot. The price hikes for the service are getting to be too much for some, even if current subscribers are finding new things to play.
Not every game release is equally smooth, though. In this case, communities like Reddit are bringing some attention to the implementation of an incredibly popular and storied RPG.
Diablo II: Resurrected Hits Xbox Game Pass
With A Few Provisos
Although Diablo 2 is a fantastic game in its own right (including the Resurrected project), the way it’s been dropped on Xbox Game Pass has left some scratching their heads. For one, Xbox Game Pass PC doesn’t have access to achievements, while the Steam edition of the game, released around the same time, does. It’s also not a Play Anywhere game, despite Microsoft owning the studio.
The achievements bit is one of the most annoying aspects of the release, which seems to be due to the Battle.net implementation through Xbox Game Pass. One user explains: “The only reason I don’t play the games from Ubisoft and Blizzard on pc gamepass is because of the lack of achievements. Wish they would add a feature.” Another writes: “There’s seriously no Xbox Achievements? But Blizzard is owned by Microsoft!”
Shifting gears, one fan writes: “And also no xcloud… hope they do something about the streaming rights because it’s a bummer to see these types of games not being added to the cloud.” Another user sheds a bit of light on the situation: “Blizzard has a weird way of resisting play anywhere. Some games are double-entitled (ones not Blizzard) on Battle.net, but the save doesn’t sync, and their games aren’t. I didn’t buy the Diablo DLC because of that…Also, Minecraft games are not. I have the ultimate DLC for Minecraft Dungeons, and they only work for Xbox. Now I have an ally, I can’t play on that natively.”
Another thing to note is that the Warlock class is not included in this Xbox Game Pass edition. Instead, you’ll need to pay separately for that. “Oh, I see, this is actually just done to try to sell the $25 addon that was announced,” a fan writes.
Will The Battlenet Link Ever Be Addressed?
It’s Definitely A Long Term Fix
As Xbox Game Pass continues to face an uphill battle amid rising prices, fans aren’t too happy that it seems to offer less value than games on other platforms.
