Xbox cloud gaming now lets you stream your own games

Microsoft has just announced that Xbox Cloud Gaming is gaining the ability to stream your own Xbox games. This feature was reported on back in October, noting that Microsoft had plans to launch it as a new cloud gaming feature in November. The time has come and the feature is now available to Xbox Cloud Gaming subscribers. It is a beta feature though, and you need to be an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member to access it.
Unsurprisingly, since cloud gaming is only available to Ultimate members. While this is a huge quality-of-life improvement to the service, there are some caveats. This is also one of the most highly requested features that subscribers have been asking for for years now. So it’s good to see Microsoft has finally rolled it out.
You won’t be able to stream all of your own Xbox games
Microsoft confirms that subscribers won’t have access to their entire game library with this feature. It’s starting things out with about 50 games, but more are coming in the future. Eventually, you may be able to stream any title you own. For now, things will be limited to just the 50 Microsoft has already announced. Some of those titles include Animal Well, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy XIV, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.
It’s worth noting that you don’t need to have purchased these games on an Xbox console. If you bought them through the Xbox app on PC, you’ll be able to stream them as well. Microsoft also says that you can stream any version of the games you own. So if you own the Ultimate Edition of a game and not the base version, you can still stream it.
Games can be streamed on several different devices
However it is that you access cloud gaming now is how you can stream your own games. This means you can stream those games on Samsung TVs, the Meta Quest 2, 3, or Pro, and even on Fire TV devices now. You can also access the new feature on PCs, handhelds, and mobile devices through the web by going to https://xbox.com/play. You will also need a supported controller, or a keyboard and mouse for “some” games if playing on a PC.
