VCT 2024 Sets New Milestones in Esports with Record-Breaking Viewership and Growth

VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2024 wrapped up its most successful season to date, marking a year of record-breaking viewership, expanded leagues, and historic victories. The season set new standards for competitive gaming, showcasing VALORANT’s position as one of the fastest-growing esports worldwide.
This year’s standout moment came during Champions Seoul, which shattered viewership records, peaking at 9.13 million viewers and attracting 44.38 million unique viewers. These figures more than quintupled last year’s numbers, reflecting the growing global appeal of VALORANT. Similarly, Masters Shanghai was a milestone event, with ticket sales at the Mercedes-Benz Arena selling out in just 22 seconds and breaking the record for live attendance at a VCT event.
In terms of competition, 2024 was a landmark year for regional representation. Gen.G made history by securing the first-ever global event trophy for the Pacific region, while EDG won the World Championship in their league’s debut season. These victories highlight the increasing competitiveness within the VCT, with emerging regions continuing to make their mark.
The season also saw new talent rising through the ranks, with over 40 teams qualifying for the Challengers league through Premier. One of the standout stories was Sin Prisa Gaming, which ascended from the Premier division to join VCT Pacific in just five months—a remarkable achievement that demonstrates the opportunities available within the VCT ecosystem.
Financially, the VCT saw immense growth, with $44.3 million from digital goods alone shared with teams, contributing to a total prize pool of $78.4 million. This economic success highlights the strength of the esports industry, offering new revenue streams and growth potential for teams and players alike.
As the VCT prepares for its fifth anniversary in 2025, the season ends on a high note, setting the stage for another year of expansion and success. With the records set in 2024, the future of VALORANT esports is poised for even greater accomplishments.
