The CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) wants to know theopinion of the players about theacquisition of Activision Blizzard from Microsoft Xbox and what effects it will have for the gaming market.
As reported on the pages of GamesIndustry, the English antitrust is seriously willing to accept the opinions of consumers, therefore also and above all of the layman, during the phase 2 of their investigations on the maneuver.
“At this point we invite anyone, including members of the public, to share their vision with us,” reads the CMA statement.
The goal of Phase 2, according to the CMA portal, is to gather further evidence and details on the acquisition and investigate potential competition concerns.
In particular, the British antitrust is particularly interested in the so-called “damage theories”. Should the CMA come to the conclusion that the Activision Blizzard acquisition could cause a negative impact, the entity will consider possible solutions.
“If we come to the conclusion that the acquisition could negatively impact competition, we will also start thinking about potential solutions to those concerns.”
Consumers in this sense will be able to have their say on the acquisition by Microsoft at the email address microsoft.activision@cma.gov.uk during the two steps of phase 2: in response to the release of the beginning of phase 2 published at this address and subsequently to express their views on the “interim results (and any remedies, if relevant)” that will be shared once the CMA has a “good understanding of the business of the organizations” involved in the acquisition.
