Spyro Reignited Trilogy is coming to Xbox Game Pass on November 12 or, for those of you as calendar-blind as me, Tuesday.
The bundle, originally released in 2018, includes remakes of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon from the original PlayStation. Sypro Reignited Trilogy may scrap the classic polygonal models of that bygone era, but the gorgeous, cartoon-like visuals developer Toys for Bob created to replace them are every bit as endearing.
Here’s a little of what Ashley Oh, former Polygon social media manager, had to say about Spyro Reignited Trilogy at launch:
Spyro Reignited Trilogy retains the magic of what made the franchise such a hit in the late 90s and early 2000s. There’s a timelessness that lives in the core of the Spyro games, proving that the franchise can easily contend with other big names in the nostalgia wave. 20 years later, I’m delighted I can still experience the same feeling of wonder and awe in the games that defined my childhood.
The official Xbox Game Pass account on X (formerly Twitter) teased the announcement earlier this morning, to which the official Spyro account responded with several eye emojis. We love this type of totally natural and spontaneous communication between the social media accounts of major brands that are probably handled by the same team, don’t we folks.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy joins a November lineup for Xbox Game Pass that includes previously added games like Starcraft: Remastered, Goat Simulator Remastered, and Metal Slug Tactics, and will continue with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on November 19.
