PowerA is a storied name in gaming peripherals and is coming out with a new Xbox controller today called the Fusion Pro 3. It’s the third installment in the popular series of Xbox controllers, and the second made for the Xbox Series X|S generation of Xbox consoles.
It’s similar in many ways to the Fusion Pro 2 and the original Fusion Pro. But it adds some notable upgrades to enhance the gameplay experience. These improvements are likely to go over well with Xbox players too. PowerA says these upgrades are providing player with tremendous value. And that’s hard to argue against if the latest version of this controller not only comes with improved features, but does so at a lower price than the previous model.
The one thing to keep in mind is that this is a wired controller. If you prefer a wireless option, then this might not be for you. That being said, wired controllers can eliminate two things. Battery life and latency. While you can’t completely get rid of the latency, you’re less likely to encounter any issues with it in games when using a wired controller. The Fusion Pro 3 also comes with a 10ft. USB-C cable. So there shouldn’t be much of a problem with the controller reaching your console.
The PowerA Fusion Pro 3 gets two notable upgrades
For the most part the Fusion Pro 3 looks just about the same as the Fusion Pro 2. A quick look and you’d be hard pressed to tell them apart. The new model does come with two notable upgrades though.

The first is a newly redesigned travel protective case for the controller. PowerA says it has a smaller, more compact footprint. Which will make it easier to stow in a bag for travel purposes. The second and more important upgrade, is the four remappable buttons.
You’ll find these on the back, allowing you to set those buttons to any of the other controls. This won’t necessarily give you an advantage but it might make using the controller more comfortable. And who knows it could help your game a little bit. The Fusion Pro 3 also includes three-way trigger stops, rubberized grips, detachable faceplates, swappable thumbsticks and more. It’s not as customizable as something like the Elite Series 2. But at a fraction of the cost, it might be worth a look.
You can pick up the Fusion Pro 3 on Amazon for $79.99 via pre-order starting today, with the controller launching on April 28.
