Not sure what game to play? Leave a comment, we’ll help

is the interim culture editor at Polygon. She is fascinated by health and technology and has written about it for CNN, Wired, Mashable, and Self.
That’s why we started this open thread: to help you find your next favorite game. Want something to play while waiting in line? We can help. Looking for something to play with a friend who doesn’t have a console? We’ve got ideas. Want a masterpiece of a fantasy game that’ll last you hundreds of hours? Yep, we’ve got a suggestion there, too. So ask away!
From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST, I will be in the comments section answering your questions and fielding requests for what you should play. You can and should chime in with your own recommendations, or feel free to simply chat about what you’re playing.
What kind of expertise can you expect from me? I am, at heart, a lover of strategy, building, survival, and management games. If you look at my Steam library, it’s filled with titles such as Civilization, ARK: Survival Evolved, Frostpunk, IXION, Manor Lords, Satisfactory, Subnautica, and Timberborn. On the Switch, I mostly play cozy games like Dreamlight Valley, Spiritfarer, and Palia (with some This War of Mine and Pokémon Unite thrown in for variety). I also own a PS5 and an Xbox Series S, but admittedly play on them less often (unless we’re talking Horizon Zero Dawn).
These days, I also spend an inordinate amount of time playing board games with friends (at this point my apartment is starting to look more like a board games cafe). I have a ton of recommendations for cozy board games, but my favorite video game genres apply here, too — CATAN will forever be one of my favorite board games to play.
Now it’s time to turn it around to you. What would you like to play this weekend? Leave a request in the comments and I’ll get to it between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. EST. Details help — let me know what you’re looking for, some idea of your taste, and any other relevant info you feel like sharing, like the consoles you have access to, or what it was about a game you’re looking to emulate, if anything. I’ll reply to the comments with recommendations — and if I don’t have a great suggestion, I’ll ask the rest of the team.
