It’s just over a month away, but Ghostrunner 2 just dropped a surprise demo.
Announced during September’s Sony State of Play , the demo is now available on PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5. The sequel to developer One More Level’s high-octane first-person action game is set to debut on October 24, and by the looks of it, we’re in for more one-hit kills and deaths to boot.
In our Ghostrunner 2 preview from Gamescom, we experienced its fast-paced melee action, all pitted against an atmospheric dark synth musical score. We expect the demo to provide more of the same, so expect to run up walls, throw shurikens at flammable barrels, and lay waste to hordes of enemies in quick succession ahead of the game’s full release next month.
The original Ghostrunner proved to be an excellent take on fast-paced action, with a hybrid of cyberpunk combat and movement tech that would make any speedrunner’s mouth water. Now, three years later, the sequel looks set to expand that formula in a major way.
Today’s State of Play also brought new looks at games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, confirmation of the Resident Evil 4 remake’s long-awaited DLC, and a whole lot of info about the next stage of the FF7 remake trilogy. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is officially due out in February, and the new trailer confirms that Vincent is making his comeback here. We also learned that the $350 Collector’s Edition will let you witness the full glory that is 19 inches of Sephiroth.
Check out more upcoming PS5 games to watch out for this year and beyond, from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Alan Wake 2.
