Game Pass Subscribers Can Grab South Of Midnight’s Premium Upgrade, And Early Access, At A Steep Discount

Xbox is offering South of Midnight’s premium edition upgrade, which includes early access and a range of other extras, at a discount for Game Pass subscribers, though there’s a small catch. The discount is only available for two of the subscription service’s tiers–Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, which cost $20 per month and $12 per month, respectively.
Core and Standard Game Pass members will have to pay full price for the premium edition or upgrade their subscription. This deal only applies to the Xbox and Windows versions of South of Midnight. If you want to play on Steam instead, you’ll have to pay full price there as well.
With the discount, you can get South of Midnight’s premium edition upgrade for $10. The premium version normally costs $49.99, and it comes with:
Early access beginning April 3, 2025
Digital artbook
A digital version of South of Midnight’s soundtrack
The Boo-Hag Comic book by Louisiana artist Rob Guillory
Songs & Tales of South of Midnight music video
Weaving Hazel’s Journey documentary
South of Midnight’s standard edition launches on April 8, 2025, and will be available then for free for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
Xbox offers similar discounts with the premium upgrades for most of its first-party games, including Avowed. The company also offers a $1 PC Game Pass trial that lasts for 14 days after the initial purchase, so you can get South of Midnight’s standard version for free or upgrade to the premium edition for $10 during that period.
South of Midnight is Compulsion Game’s first project since launching the award-winning narrative game We Happy Few in 2018 and the studio’s first under Microsoft ownership. It’s an adventure game steeped in folklore and follows Hazel, a young woman living in Lousiana, as she tries healing the wounds of the seen and unseen worlds after a natural disaster.
