The PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless is going to be an RGB-head’s dream and a migraine sufferer’s worst nightmare. If you find yourself in the former camp, though, just know that this blindingly bright gamepad managed to sway our reviewer, an LED hater, so much so he awarded it five out of five stars at review.
That was back in January last year, and the Fusion Pro has only just sailed down below $100 for the first time. Amazon has dropped the best Xbox Series X controller we’ve tested from a value standpoint down to $99.98, shedding $70 from its original $169.99 launch price.
In our PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless review, we said this gamepad “truly does live up to the pro nametag and does so at a very approachable price that undercuts some of its biggest competition.”
To nab the four back buttons (most only offer two), three-way trigger locks, and wireless dongle connection, you’d usually be paying around $180 (for the Victrix Pro BFG Xbox Edition) or $200 (for the Nacon Revolution X Unlimited). Even at its starting price, the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless is fending off far more premium competition, and we’re $70 below that position right now.
The Fusion Pro Wireless goes beyond even those more expensive options, though, with a charging dock included in the box and an “incredibly comfortable” form factor. A textured plastic coats the main grips, providing extra support around the rear, while the sticks themselves hold a nice tension while also being height-adjustable with just a simple twist.
Onto the real good stuff, though. Underneath the main shell, this thing is basically a whole army of LEDs ready to glow at will. Lights erupt from the main chassis across six settings, undercut by the swirls of the main pattern up top. It was enough to turn Fraser into an RGB-eliever, so even if you’re not a fan of blinking lights, it’s worth seeing it in action.
Competitive players will need to note that we found a little latency popping into gameplay on occasion. We found a slight delay while navigating menus, with Black Ops 6 and Star Wars Outlaws sometimes bearing the brunt as well. This was rare in our testing, though, and only popped up when using the Xbox’s quick resume feature. Unless you’re at the very top of your game, we’re still happy to recommend.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for an even cheaper controller and you’re not interested in the RGB or Xbox compatibility, the PowerA OPS V3 gives you all the same functionality as the Fusion Pro at an even lower price. Right now, you can bag it at Amazon for $59.99. Either will work great, but if you’re only looking for a PC controller, you might be able to save yourself some money by opting for the OPS V3.
