Console exclusives often ebb and flow. While many studios aren’t willing to forgo the profits from launching on Steam, some publishers opt to drop their games on PlayStation or Xbox.
In this case, it seems like a PlayStation 5 console-exclusive is making its way to Xbox. According to a leak spotted on Reddit, it could be happening pretty soon.
Wuthering Waves Might Come To Xbox

Released in mid-2024 by the studio Kuro Games, Wuthering Waves originally launched on PC and mobile before being ported to PS5 in January 2025. It plays very similarly to Genshin Impact, operating as a free-to-play gacha game set in an anime-inspired universe. This time around the world is a bit more bleak compared to Genshin, and there’s a greater focus on action-oriented combat. It does enough to differentiate itself, and looks great to boot.
For the last year and change, it’s been a PS5 console exclusive, but that’s about to change. Based on datamining info obtained by the playerbase, there are numerous lines of code that refer to Xbox user IDs, as well as their social/online status. Kuro Games seems poised to bring the game to Xbox imminently.
Fans are divided on the situation, with some saying they don’t care about the Xbox platform, while others are happy they can play the game on multiple systems at once. “I know this is supposed to be a joke, but Genshin Impact makes serious revenue on Xbox,” one user states.
Others are primarily Xbox gamers and are happy with the news: “I like Xbox Series S. It’s a good console for Retro gaming. I could play delisted games like BF Bad Company 1 and boot up Fallout NV without spending a whole day to get it working on modern PCs.”
As for me, the more platforms, the better. This is a third-party studio here; if they can make the game available on as many platforms as possible (with stability in tow), fans will only benefit years down the line, when there are more options to play it.

It’s taken over a year, but it looks like Wuthering Waves will make its way to Xbox in 2026. One fan is hopeful that the game will spread to more platforms: “Curious if there will ever be a Switch 2 version, reckoning that DLSS is already established within the game. Most unlikely there will be, but there is quite the chance.”
