Xbox Game Pass Warns You’ve Last Chance To Play This Underrated Open-World RPG

As Xbox Game Pass reveals its Wave 2 games for February 2026, members are being warned that four games will be leaving the subscription service at the end of the month. It’ll be your last chance to play these games for now, but you still have a little over a week left to check them out before they’re removed.
As confirmed by PureXbox, multiple games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on February 28, 2026. While each game offers something different, the biggest loss is arguably Middle-earth: Shadow of War, a great game from 2017 that should appeal to both Lord of the Rings fans and those who enjoy open-world RPGs. You won’t want to miss it.
Xbox Game Pass Is Losing A Great Lord Of The Rings Game
In Middle-earth: Shadow of War, players once again control protagonist Talion as he attempts to forge a new Ring of Power in order to take down Sauron. Along the way, you’ll encounter some iconic LOTR characters, but the gameplay and exploration are still arguably the best things about it.
Shadow of War once again uses the Nemesis system, which revolutionized combat in these games, and helped both it and its predecessor, Shadow of Mordor, become two of the best Lord of the Rings games of all time.
Right now, you’ve got about 12 days left to play through Middle-earth: Shadow of War while it’s still on Game Pass, and the game takes around 20-25 hours to beat, assuming you don’t do too much side content, so you’ve still got time if you hurry. That averages out to around 2 hours per day, which seems doable.
Xbox Game Pass Is Also Saying Goodbye To Three More Games
It’s not just Middle-earth: Shadow of War that’s leaving Game Pass soon, though. Three more titles will be removed from the service at the end of this month. Those games are:

Injustice 2
Monster Train
I’d argue Middle-earth: Shadow of War is still the biggest loss, but depending on what genres you prefer, you may disagree. The good news is that a host of new titles are coming to Game Pass to replace these. Both Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Final Fantasy 3 will arrive on March 3, kicking off the new month.
