Xbox Drops 3 Free Games You Don’t Need Game Pass For

From time to time, Xbox will get some games that don’t require a Game Pass subscription in order to play for free. To kick off the new year, three new games have arrived on Xbox Series X/S, offering up some interesting gameplay and easy achievements (if we’re being totally honest here).
These games may have flown under your radar, but are definitely worth checking out. As confirmed by PureXbox, all three titles are free to play, no Game Pass required. So if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to relax and gain a few achievements in the process, look no further than these three new games.
Xbox’s Latest Free Games Are… Different
The three free games added to Xbox are:
Coloring Book
Puzzle Galaxy (Xbox Edition)
Cup Heroes
The premise of each game is fairly straightforward. In Coloring Book, you essentially color pictures just like you would in a real-life coloring book. Puzzle Galaxy has you placing together pieces to form photos and illustrations just like an IRL puzzle. And Cup Heroes turns cups into heroes that must save their queen just like an IRL…cup hero? You get it.
For now, there’s no end date. As far as we know, these games are free forever, so there’s no rush to play them immediately. However, if you’re looking for achievements, you’ll probably want to check these out sooner rather than later.
Xbox’s Free Games Have Easy Achievements
Although we haven’t played Cup Heroes yet, the premise sounds intriguing and the achievement list looks pretty doable. Meanwhile, Coloring Book and Puzzle Galaxy are both games you can get 100% Achievements in by playing for an hour or less. We previously reported on just how easy Puzzle Galaxy was to complete, and we did the same when covering Coloring Book.
Let’s be honest — sometimes you want a short, relaxing game instead of a 100-hour epic. All three of these new games on Xbox will scratch that itch. And because they’re free, and have easy achievement lists, that’s all really just icing on the cake. We’ve had fun with Coloring Book and Puzzle Galaxy already, and I’m looking forward to checking out Cup Heroes now.
