White House credits Trump with resolving PlayStation-Xbox war in odd posts

The White House on Sunday sent out a bizarre X post praising President Donald Trump for ending another long-running conflict – the “Console Wars.”
The battle between Sony’s Playstation and Microsoft’s Xbox divisions came to a supposed end last week when Microsoft announced that its longtime exclusive Halo video game franchise is coming to the PlayStation 5 next year. Gaming retailer GameStop issued a “statement” on X declaring the “official cessation of the console wars.”
The White House Rapid Response account unexpectedly entered the console wars conversation late Sunday in a post on X: “President Trump presides over the end of the 20-year Console Wars.”
GameStop replied to the White House account’s post Sunday evening by posting an AI photo of Trump shaking hands with Master Chief, the armor-clad protagonist of the Xbox’s flagship Halo franchise.
The official White House X account later posted an AI rendering of the president saluting the American flag while wearing Master Chief’s signature armor. The post’s accompanying text read: “Power to the players.”
Trump has made repeated claims about ending eight separate, actual wars as president. The White House in August provided a list of six wars he has resolved in a statement to press, and Trump has added the Israel-Hamas war and Thailand-Cambodia conflict to his tally this month.
Independent analyses by the Associated Press, BBC and CNN have found that some of Trump’s claims are misleading.
